International Day of the Girl

October 11 is the day we celebrate girls around the world and highlight their rights. Girls must be given equal access to education, health and opportunities to participate in society as boys.

Today, girls are breastfed for a shorter time than boys, they are vaccinated to a lesser extent and they often have to stand behind their brothers. Because education is a way out of poverty and vulnerability, we work in Zonta to ensure that all children get a good education and thereby also get a better life with good health, an income and opportunities to influence. And we fight extra hard for the girls.

Zonta International invests in education for women and girls through our international service projects and our scholarships.

The International Day of the Girl was established by the United Nations and was first observed in 2012.
