Club meeting February 14, 2024 with lecture by Sarita Skagnes

February's club meeting will take place on February 14th at 6:30 PM at Åhusgården.

Tonight's speaker is Sarita Skagnes – one of the most popular summer speakers in P1 in SR. The girl who got "wings of freedom" and caused a scandal but found her human value.

Sarita was born as an unwanted girl and even then her father wanted to kill her, then she was swapped for a boy. In her
In her book "Bara en dotter" (Just a Daughter), she describes how she came to Norway as a teenager and was forced to break all contact with her family because she married a Norwegian man.

Sarita currently works for several charities and lectures on the vulnerable situation of girls and to motivate and empower young people to dare to seek their own path. Sarita has received many awards for her book and work. Her book has so far been published in Norwegian, Swedish, Finnish, English and Sri Lankan.

Come listen to an interesting lecture and about India travel. The author and lecturer also show photos and videos from India. It is possible to buy the book after the lecture and by doing this you contribute to fighting the conditions for girls, as the proceeds from the book go to education projects for vulnerable girls.

We will keep the evening completely vegetarian.
