World Day for Social Justice
February 20 is the World Day for Social Justice. Social justice means that everyone has equal opportunities and rights in society. According to the UN, social justice is a prerequisite for peaceful cooperation between and within countries. The purpose of the day is to support and unite the UN's efforts to reduce poverty in the world. It must also increase access to work, increase gender equality and well-being and justice for all.
The World Day for Social Justice is based on an ILO declaration on fair globalization, which in turn is a development of the ILO's work throughout the 20th century. The ILO, the International Labor Organization, is the UN's professional body for employment and working life issues.
