Zonta Young Women in Leadership Award

For more women to be represented at key decision-making levels worldwide, we must encourage young women to seek leadership positions in public policy, government and voluntary organizations and further their education with these goals in mind.

 Zonta Young Women in Leadership Award recognizes young women aged 16-19 who have demonstrated leadership skills and commitment to public service and social issues, and encourages them to continue their participation in public and political life.

Who can apply

The scholarship can be applied for if you are a woman, aged 16-19 on April 1 of the year you are applying, and who lives or is a citizen of a Zonta country. You study or work and show your commitment by:

• Active involvement in voluntary work.
• Experience of leadership in local government, in the school student council or similar or leadership in the workplace (paid or unpaid).
• Results in your leadership.
• Knowledge of Zonta International and its programs.
• Support Zonta International's mission to build a better world for women and girls.

Scholarship amount

USD 5,000 is awarded to 37 fellows per year.

Application deadline

Varies between clubs but usually between December and March. Contact your local club for application deadlines.

The club appoints a candidate who must be available to the District by April 1 at the latest. The district nominates a candidate who advances to Zonta International for assessment.

• Please stick to the specified word count. Applications that are too long will not be considered.
• The application must be written in English. Documents in other languages must be translated into English.
• Please complete the application digitally. Handwritten documents will not be accepted.
• Email the application to the nearest Zonta club no later than the club's specified application deadline.

Please note that you cannot apply if you are a member of a Zonta club or a direct member of Zonta International.
