Zonta says no to violence against women

Zonta Says No

On November 25 each year, a 16-day long campaign starts to draw attention to violence against women and girls. Zonta members are participating worldwide through Zonta Says No to Violence Against Women. For us Zontas, the Zonta Says No campaign is one of the most important times of the year. Then we demonstrate for a better world for women and girls.

Zonta works in different ways to change attitudes and values so that more people will strengthen and protect the rights of women and girls. The members do this both internationally, nationally and locally by trying to influence decision-makers and increase awareness of equality issues.

Zonta International's congress in June 2022 brought together Zonta members from all over the world. It was then decided to focus our advocacy work on three areas for the next two years:

  • Violence against women and children – which includes stopping child and forced marriage, intimate partner violence and digital violence.
  • Female leadership - which includes women in the workplace and women as representatives at all levels of government.
  • Climate change - an important gender equality issue.

By writing submissions and debate articles for daily newspapers as well as posts on our social media, we carry out advocacy work all year round. But above all through various activities during the Zonta Says No campaign and on International Women's Day on March 8. Then we arrange events, lectures, demonstrations, display windows with different themes, book tables in libraries and more, all to create awareness about women's rights.

Join us and create a change! Come to an event that we organize or contact a club in your area.
